Ten Romantic Tenerife Hotels for Valentine’s Day

Whether you’re still in the flush of new love; have been together for more years than you were single; or are ready to move your relationship to the next level and pop the question, a romantic break in Tenerife adds a glowing dose of warm sunshine to help oil the love wheels.

This is my pick of Tenerife’s most romantic hotels…

Luxury
If you can afford it, even if only for a night or two, there’s no doubt that luxury sets the scene nicely for romance. And if you’re about to pop the question, why not stack the odds in your favour?

Royal Garden Villas, Costa Adeje

Royal Garden Villas & Spa, Costa Adeje
Set amongst fragrant gardens and tucked away alongside the golf course, these private villas are the ultimate romantic getaway. Asian chic design, Egyptian cotton and silk bedding and private terrace with a stylish pool provide the setting. All you have to do is bring the romance.
At £332 a night, this is possibly the most expensive accommodation on Tenerife.

Iberostar Grand Hotel El Mirador

Iberostar Grand Hotel El Mirador, Costa Adeje
Lying at the posh end of Costa Adeje, alongside the perfectly behaved Playa Del Duque, everything about this adults-only hotel says romance, from its fairytale sandstone turrets and jasmine-lined walkways to its four poster beds and luxurious bathrooms. Think Arabian Nights and you’ll get the picture.
Prices start from £287 a night.

Hotel San Roque, Garachico

Hotel San Roque, Garachico
Our absolute favourite hotel on Tenerife, this stunning 18th century manor house has been lovingly and lavishly restored to beyond its former glory. Matching Rennie Mackintosh furniture with traditional Canarian architecture, it’s as unique as it is beautiful. Upgrade to a suite for a Jacuzzi in the bedroom.
With prices that start from £200 a night it’s not cheap, but so worth it.

Europe Villa Cortes, Playa de Las Americas

Europe Villa Cortés, Playa de Las Américas
Another of our faves, this Mexican hacienda style hotel has romantic courtyards and hidden corners just begging to be enjoyed. It’s also got splendid gardens and some of the best food in the south of the island. If you don’t find love over dinner at the Tiziano or sunset cocktails at their Chiringuito, give it up.
Prices start from £209 a night.

Hotel Botánico, Puerto de la Cruz

Hotel Botánico, Puerto de la Cruz
Old school, five star service and comfort at this Grand Dame of hotels overlooking the magnificent La Orotava Valley. Splendid gardens, Thai style luxurious décor, a cracking breakfast and a world class spa offering couples treatments, all beckon for those who remember what proper five star means.
Prices start from £162 a night.

Mid-range
You don’t have to take out a second mortgage to enjoy the best of Tenerife’s hotels, some offer top notch accommodation at (reasonably) affordable prices, at least for a special occasion.

Hotel Melia del Conde, Buenavista del Norte

Melia Hacienda Del Conde, Buenavista
Melia’s latest Tenerife acquisition, this one shot straight into our top five when it opened. Cool, chic, Colonial elegance set in one of the island’s unspoilt corners with a golf course on the doorstep, gorgeous infinity pools, a really cool bar in a church and a beautiful spa. Just don’t let your partner bring their clubs.
Special offers begin at around £150 a night. That’s a steal.

Hotel La Quinta, Garachico

Hotel La Quinta Roja, Garachico
That gorgeous, iconic building set on the impossibly picturesque plaza in Garachico, and the 17th century former home of the Marquis of Quinta Roja. Step through the enormous doors of La Quinta Roja and you’ll find serenity, romance and luxury in equal measure along with some of the friendliest service on Tenerife.
From £105 a night, this is romance at affordable prices.

La Casona del Patio, Santiago del Teide

La Casona del Patio, Santiago del Teide
One for the country lovers, you’re a long way from the beach at this gorgeous hotel set in the hills in the lovely village of Santiago del Teide. Stylish contemporary design in stone, wood and glass with just 20 bedrooms. There’s horse riding and great walking from the door as well as a private sauna and Jacuzzi for hire.
Prices start at just £85 a night.

Budget
The pound might be floundering but romance doesn’t have to suffer. With these prices, there’s no excuse for not grabbing a couple of budget airline tickets and heading to the sun.

Hotel Villalba, Vilaflor

Hotel Spa Villalba, Vilaflor
It never ceases to amaze me that this hotel falls into the budget range. An adults-only, spa hotel set on the edge of the pine forest above the village of Vilaflor, in easy distance of Teide National Park. The Villalba‘s design is contemporary, the food and wine are excellent and the nights are as starry as Don McLean’s (#datedreference).
With prices starting at £90 a night, what are you waiting for?

Hotel Rural El Patio, Garachico

Hotel Rural El Patio, Garachico
A restored 16th century mansion set in an ocean of banana plants, in easy distance of pretty Garachico and its clutch of good restaurants, this is one for true romantics. There’s no TV or phone in the room, windows are small, and toiletries are rubbish, but there’s an open courtyard lined with palm trees, and there’s absolute serenity. We love it.
Prices start at £68 a night.

All prices are for a double room on a bed & breakfast basis
